Computer games have become both a mainstay of our universe of entertainment such as books and films. Why is that so many of us are attracted by the computer monitor or TV screen like flies? A little history may help explain the phenomenon.

Originally, computers were all the work and no play, to be extremely expensive to build and operate. However, software engineers and designers, children are covered after all soon began to feel comfortable with your great room filling machines. In her leisure time, they thought it might be interesting for the computer to show some ships space and planets cruising around the galaxy. Also in the 1980s, a group of computer programmers began creating software that will show images in motion, all computer generated. The images that started out very simple, almost like stick figures, but that could dance in time to a music track. The computing power grew exponentially, and more than 20 years, now not only a computer generated film effects fabulout and characters together, but the realism of video games has taken a great leap forward.

A good game that will build on to another world and, unlike a book or a film, computer game will offer an interactive experience. A modern computer will still do a great job of playing the state of the art video games. There are hundreds of options, including many that pit you against other online players. Then there are the specialty consoles such as PlayStation, Nintendo and Xbox 360. With trick-controllers, guitars and sticks, which really can develop some hand-eye coordination playing many of the current titles.

One of the most fun educational games is Roller Coaster Tycoon, where you build your own amusement park and then operate with "real" deciding on guests who walks to take. If the guest loses her lunch on a roller coaster is better than having a custodian cleaning and customers will walk away. You should see the income and expenses and save money to build more tourist attractions. This is a great game.

But the bottom of why we are so enamored of software computer games is that it captures our imagination in a variety of interactive forms. Our games are prized possessions and it is good to treat with care to last.
